Oakwood Prep proves small schools benefit from MIS

Typical of many schools, Oakwood was operating a number of databases to record pupils’ progress and performance and manage school activities. Without an integrated system the tracking process was disconnected and disjointed. They needed something to support their academic and administration data management and also to upgrade their finance and accounting system which was outdated.
For smaller, prep schools, there is often a reluctance to change because of costs, plus the time and resources required for selection, decision-making, staff training and implementation, so it’s tempting to continue with what you know.
Ian Brittain, Oakwood School’s Bursar writes an informative case study on the whole process of implementing a system and gives valuable advice to other schools.
