Lock It In: Final Academic Tasks Before the Summer Holidays
Ideal timing- Final week of term
The last weeks of term are full of farewells, thank yous, and finishing touches, but before the final week is out, there’s one more set of tasks worth completing: making sure next year’s academic structure is finalised and accurate.
For independent and international schools, admin teams are often balancing multiple systems and responsibilities. Leaving rollover too late can lead to disjointed start-of-term experiences for staff and families.
🎓 What to Be Thinking About Now
-
New Subject Sets and Forms: Review anything newly introduced for the next cohort. Will Year 7 have an extra science stream?
- Teacher Assignments: Is everyone where they’re meant to be? Even the best-laid timetables can’t compensate if the system doesn’t know who’s teaching what.
- Student Transfers: Promotions from one year to the next need to be clean and accurate. Check for anomalies; especially in mixed-age classes or split forms.
HUBmis makes this easier by grouping classes and students together visually in timetables so you can drag, drop, and double-check before confirming.
👥 Don’t Forget Leavers and Joiners
Whether it’s one family relocating or an entire Year 6 moving on, those transitions need to be recorded properly. Likewise, new students should already be mapped to their tutor groups and forms so they’re ready to go.
With HUBmis, accepted applicants are automatically added to the correct year when the academic year is switched. One less thing to worry about!
