Development & Testing Roles at WCBS

Background

WCBS is the world’s leading supplier of finance, academic and administration software for the independent and fee paying school sector.  Due to continued growth, we are looking to expand our development teams. The company is now working on a role centric set of tools which are WinForms and ASP.NET based. These will build on the underlying strength of the existing systems and are developed using Agile / SCRUM methodologies.

Available roles

• Desktop development team: positions available for Delphi and C# WinForms developers.
• Web development team: positions available for C# ASP.NET developers.
• Graduates: positions available for the right candidates for both development and testing roles (see required skills in the graduate roles section)

DEVELOPER POSITIONS

Key functions

• To produce innovative and usable user interfaces for the Company’s software in windows, web, and mobile environments following the user stories as defined by our team of analysts.
• Write new modules / applications as part of an agile development team.
• Work with technical authors and QC team to enhance the final product.
• Review progress of projects with the Development Manager and Analysts.

Required technical skills

• Demonstrable experience in interaction design, knowledge of visual design, usability, and accessibility.
• Proven track record of commercial development experience using ASP.NET, WinForms or Delphi.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server or similar.

Desirable qualifications and skills

• Qualification to HND plus.
• Agile (Scrum) methodology experience.
• Test Driven Development knowledge
• Knowledge of ASP.NET MVC, jQuery and CSS are a strong plus.

Requirements

• A minimum of a 2:1 degree, ideally in an IT related subject.
• Driven, enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
